Fertility Diet To Improve Egg Quality

Previously, it was thought that women are born with all of their eggs and are unable to create any more over their lifespan. Recent study has shown, however, that stem cells in the ovaries can produce fresh eggs during a woman’s reproductive years. However, the age of an egg has an effect on its quality. The eggs are housed in the ovaries, which become unable to give a viable and ideal home for the eggs as you become older. However, this does not rule out the possibility of becoming pregnant in your 30s or 40s. Simply put, it suggests that you may require medical assistance and that you should be more cautious about your health and lifestyle. Read this fertility diet to improve egg quality:

Fertility Diet To Improve Egg Quality

1. Avoid smoking cigarettes

Smoking causes irreversible egg loss in the ovaries. Cigarette smoke causes DNA mutations in a woman’s egg cells, rendering some of her eggs unfit for pregnancy. Because women are born with all of their eggs and the amount of eggs they will ever have decreases with age, it is best to keep eggs healthy and free of unwanted chemicals.

2. Deal with your stress

Stress can cause chemicals like cortisol and prolactin to interfere with or stop ovulation, preventing egg formation. Stress-relieving activities like yoga, meditation, exercise, or a warm bath can help you stay calm and relaxed.

3. Eat a balanced diet

Healthy meals increase general health, which includes ensuring that your eggs are healthy and of high quality, as well as boosting overall fertility. Leafy greens, whole grains, lean meats, nuts, fresh veggies, and fruits should all be consumed in large quantities. Avoid trans fats, refined carbohydrates, processed foods or meats, and too much salt and sugar.

4. Achieve a BMI that is within the normal range (body mass index)

Obesity has been associated to decreased fertility and egg quality due to oxidative stress and changes in mitochondrial activity. Obesity can also affect ovulation by disturbing hormonal balance. To get pregnant, you need have a body mass index (BMI) of 18.5-24.9. To give you an idea of what it looks like, a 5’6″ lady with a weight range of 115-154 pounds has a normal BMI.

5. Increase Blood Flow

Oxygen-rich blood flow to the ovaries is beneficial to egg health. Dehydration can cause rapid reductions in blood flow, so aim to consume 64 ounces of water each day. The lotus posture, child’s pose, reclining hero, and seated forward bend are all beneficial to conception.

6. Supplements are a good investment

There’s no need to spend a fortune on vitamins; Coenzyme Q10, melatonin, and fish oil are three low-cost solutions that can aid with egg health. CoQ10 can improve egg quality by increasing mitochondrial function and antioxidants (200 mg, 3 times daily); melatonin can increase antioxidants, encourage ovarian function, and aid sleep (3 mg each evening); and fish oil (EPA/DHA) can help produce higher quality eggs and improve reproductive function in advanced maternal age (1200-1500 mg EPA + DHA daily, do not exceed 3000 mg/day).

7. Put your eggs in the freezer

Stopping your biological clock and freezing your eggs is the greatest strategy to protect your fertility future if you plan on delaying parenting. Natural fertility fades over time, but frozen eggs retain their biological age when cryopreserved, increasing your chances of future success.

8. Choose high fat dairy

High intakes of low fat dairy foods may increase the risk of infertility, whereas high fat dairy foods may decrease it. One large study from 2007 looked at the effects of eating high fat dairy more than once a day or less than once a week. It found that women who consumed one or more servings of high fat dairy per day were 27 percent less likely to be infertile.

9. Add in a multivitamin

If you take multivitamins, you may be less likely to experience ovulatory infertility. In fact, an estimated 20 percent of ovulatory infertility may be avoided if women consume 3 or more multivitamins per week. Micronutrients found in vitamins have essential roles in fertility. For women trying to get pregnant, a multivitamin containing folate may be especially beneficial.
